John is assigned a strange mission: to investigate the truth about a rare love story in the ocean country. But he soon noticed that the country he came to had no children. Little by little, the truth is revealed to him that people are afflicted with a strange disease that is leading them to their end. The women revolt and the authorities confront them by denying the problem, and a brutal war breaks out, the smallest details of which are recorded by John in his report, while he continues to search for the alleged love story, but what will happen when he discovers the only man who has not been infected with the disease? In "The Women Who...", one character breathlessly delivers the story to the other, thus building the architecture of the novel that presents, within the folds of its strangeness, imagination, and unreality of its events, a legendary story, but it is verifiable in our real world.

In his book “Mirrors,” Eduardo Galeano retells the history of human civilization in his own way, condensing what he finds exciting, funny, and worthy of attention through brief, precise passages that give the reader the opportunity to connect with the events and facts he reads, as if history were resurrected before him. The author adopts a cornological path in narrating a history based on bitter paradoxes, and stops at cities, personalities, events, and inventions that constituted milestones in human history. This is how we see him moving lightly between various topics; Such as female circumcision, silkworms, beer, Santa Claus, tango, the torture instruments of the Inquisition. But through the illusion of dispersion, he somehow makes history more logical and full of bitter irony. With extreme selectivity and absolute freedom, Galeano, with his extensive knowledge, chooses the points that stand out to him that seemed to him pivotal in the path of humanity, specifically the forgotten events or people that the dominant narrative of history ignored and wanted to erase from collective memory, as if he was saying to the world: “See your true face reflected in... Mirror".
The term “women’s empowerment” has invaded the research literature and reports issued by civil society organizations in the Arab region, without sufficient introduction to this term, its dimensions, indicators, and methods for measuring it, especially in view of the geographical and cultural specificities, and the different historical circumstances of women from one country to another: the empowerment of women in... Belgium, or Ecuador is not the same as empowering them in Syria.
This is precisely what justifies the interest in publishing the “Methodological Guide to Women’s Empowerment,” prepared by the work team in the “Gender and its Indicators” project, managed by the Women and Development Committee of the General Department of Cooperative Development (DGCD) in Belgium.
Instead of adopting a fixed template that applies to all women, this guide takes into account the cultural specificities of each society and proposes a flexible methodology that allows for the formulation of empowerment indicators.
Empowerment, according to the words of the authors of this guide: “is not based on a process of horizontal development, or fixed values in society, but rather a cumulative process built on the activities of women’s movements, as well as mixed movements.”
Thus, this guide explores the relationship of the concept of empowerment to other related terms, such as: power, distribution of responsibilities, and building identity.
